Draw for Wondervale.

We're building the next set of Tribes of Wondervale: new characters across all six tribes, each one growing from Apprentice to Guardian to Hero. We need character designers, turnaround artists and 3D finishers who can work in our style. Paid per piece. Fully remote.

Of sets, books and games planned

Three kinds of artist. One consistent universe.

Wondervale lives or dies on consistency: a character has to look like itself on every card, in every pose, at every age. These are the jobs that make that happen.

Illustrators

Take a character we already have and paint it into a full-art special illustration for the rare slots: a scene, a moment, a mood, in your own hand. You get the character and tribe guide; the composition is yours. It has to be unmistakably the same character, and unmistakably yours.

  • Full-art illustrations
  • Scene compositions
  • Alt-art rares

Turnaround & pose artists

Work from an existing master image to draw turnarounds (front, side, back, three-quarter) and action poses that match it exactly: same proportions, same markings, same gear. Precision beats flair here. Every asset is checked against the master before sign-off.

3D & finishing artists

Take characters into 3D for renders, promos and future game use, or hand-finish renders and generated passes: fixing anatomy, cleaning details, matching tribe palettes and doing the final paint-over that gets a piece to print quality.

Not sure where you fit? Apply anyway and tell us what you love drawing. Comics, animation, games and toy design all transfer.

Hero

Same creature. Three ages. Always itself.

  1. Stylized, not realistic. Big silhouettes, exaggerated proportions, bold color and dynamic lighting. It has to read at card size from across the table.
  2. One character, three stages. Apprentice, Guardian, Hero: the same creature, same markings, clearly the same soul, growing up across three cards.
  3. Six tribes, six palettes. Aegaryn's icy blues and whites are one. You get the full tribe guide and references the day you join.
  4. Family-friendly. Fierce is good, gore isn't. Kids play this with their parents.

From portfolio to printed card in four steps.

No unpaid tests, no vague briefs, no mystery about where your work goes.

  1. 01

    Send your portfolio

A link is enough. We read every application and reply within two weeks, either way.

  2. 02

    Paid test piece

If your work fits, we send a short brief for one piece and pay you our standard rate for it. We never ask for free work.

  3. 03

    Become official

You get the tribe guide, master images, references and a clear brief per character. Two revision rounds are built into every piece, and every asset is checked against the master before sign-off.

  4. 04

    See it printed

Your characters ship in real packs, go into the card gallery, and carry into the books, shows and games the universe is being built toward - always with credit.

Paid per piece

Rates agreed before you start and paid on delivery, not on print. Master images, turnaround sets and paint-overs each have their own rate.

Remote and async

Work from anywhere, on your own hours. Briefs, references and feedback come in writing, with a clear deadline per piece.

Credit

Your name in the card gallery entry for every character you worked on, and on our artists page. Show it in your portfolio once it's published.

Ongoing work

Sets are planned years out, with books, shows and games to follow. Good partners get the next brief first.

Show us your work.

Takes two minutes. A portfolio link is the only thing we really need.

Questions Artists Ask

Anything else, ask in the form or email us. We'd rather answer twice than lose a good artist to a doubt.

Is this actually paid?

Yes. Every piece, including the test piece, at a rate you see before you start. We don't run contests, and we don't ask for free samples.

Do I need trading card game experience?

No. What we need is consistency: drawing the same character from any angle, at any age, and having it still be that character. Comics, animation, games and toy design all build that muscle.

Do I need to be in the US?

No. We're in Northwest Florida and work with artists anywhere. Everything runs in writing over email and Discord, and we pay internationally.

Who owns the work?

Wondervale owns the characters and card art, so the universe stays consistent across cards, books and games. You're credited, and you can show the work in your portfolio once it's published.

How fast do you reply?

Within two weeks, whether or not it's a yes. If we're not hiring for your specialty right now, we'll keep your portfolio for the next set.
