Our Print Run Philosophy

Most trading card games never publish exact print runs.

We understand why. Print decisions are operationally sensitive, demand can change quickly, and publishers often prefer to preserve flexibility while a product remains active. But we also believe collectors deserve more visibility than the industry has traditionally offered.

That is why Wondervale will publish official print run totals after an edition has gone fully out of print. This approach allows us to preserve flexibility while a release is active, protect the integrity of our supply decisions, and give collectors permanent clarity once an edition is complete.

We also believe rarity should be protected with discipline. Wondervale is being built as both a playable game and a collectible universe. As the brand grows, we intend to keep our print decisions deliberate, intentional, and aligned with long-term collector trust. This means that our goal is not to flood the market with massive print runs. We look to be within the range (or more conservative even) of major competitors to ensure the value of your collection remains strong. Our goal is to build a world that remains meaningful to collect for years to come.

Our Edition Structure

Each major Wondervale set is designed to be released in three editions. Editions are tied to print runs, packaging, pull rates, rarity distribution, and special promotions.

An important thing to note, each and every run will contain something very small, but identifiable, on the box, pack, and card to differentiate between the runs.

Founder’s Edition

The earliest release of a set. Intended for the first collectors and earliest believers in the universe. Founder’s Edition is always the smallest release. In fact, we consider it a micro-release. In addition, this edition will always have the most robust pull rates of any release.

First Edition

The First Edition is the first major print-run of a set after the Founder’s Edition. It is designed to broaden access while still limiting volumes to preserve strong collector identity and early-release significance. In addition, this will have a stronger pull rate than the standard edition, but no where near the pull rate of the Founder’s Edition.

Standard Edition

The Standard Edition is the widest release of a set. It is designed to support long-term accessibility, broader gameplay adoption, retail growth, and sustained community play. This edition is meant to expand the brand into the world, helping it grow and build awareness for our collectors in a meaningful way. In addition, this will have the most difficult pull rates of any release.
